The site is free. Ads and a few partner links pay for it. Here's how that works.

Ads

Display ads come from Google AdSense. Google picks them, not us, so an ad next to a restaurant or a story isn't an endorsement. Ads are labelled, and you won't find them above the beach flag, over the live cam, or on forms and sign-in pages. No pop-ups, no full-screen takeovers.

Google may use cookies to show ads based on sites you've visited. Our privacy policy explains it, and you can turn personalised ads off in Google's ad settings.

Partner links

Some links are marked Sponsored link. If you buy through one, the site gets a cut and your price doesn't change. Right now that's Shibumi Shade, in the "Shade read" box that checks today's wind for you.

What doesn't change

• Anything paid is labelled where you see it.
