Deep Blue Seafood Truck

Deep Blue is a family-owned seafood food truck on Perdido Key Drive serving local fresh seafood along with Philly cheesesteaks, burgers, and chicken. It parks on the main drag through the Key, which puts it a walk or a short bike ride from a lot of the condos, and there’s bike parking alongside the car spaces to prove they’ve thought about that. Casual outdoor seating with a view, pets welcome, kids welcome — the format is a picnic table and a paper basket, and that’s the point.

What to order

The menu features fish tacos, seafood Philly sandwiches, lobster po’boys, and oyster po’boys. The fish tacos are the one people talk about — seasoned fish with slaw on top rather than the usual sad shredded lettuce. The seafood Philly is the crossover pick when half the table wants a cheesesteak and half wants something from the Gulf. Sides, snow cones, and frozen drinks round it out, and there’s cold beer plus Bushwackers, which is the Key’s official excuse for a milkshake at lunch.

Good to know

You can order online or call ahead, which is worth doing at peak beach hours so you’re not standing in the sun while the fryer catches up. They take cards and Venmo. There’s no indoor dining, so a rainy afternoon is not the day for it, and a hot July noon means finding the shaded end of the seating.

Getting there
