Surfside Pizza is a locally owned, family-operated pizzeria that makes its dough and sauce by hand every day rather than using frozen crusts. The menu runs to hand-tossed pizzas, wings, and sub sandwiches, available for dine-in, pickup, and delivery. It’s an everyday, made-from-scratch alternative to the chains on the Orange Beach strip. You’ll find it in the Rouses shopping center on Perdido Beach Boulevard, which makes it a convenient stop on the way back to the condo with groceries.

What to order

The specialty pizzas carry beach-town names — “Meat Me in Maui” and “Kokomo” are two on the board — alongside the usual build-your-own route. Wings and subs round things out, and there are cheese pizza sticks for the kids who won’t touch anything with a topping on it. Their own site makes a point that they’ll work off-menu on request, which is the kind of thing a small operation can do and a chain can’t.

When to go

Delivery is the real draw here. Orange Beach rentals are spread out along the boulevard, and on a rainy afternoon or the first night of a trip when nobody has unpacked the kitchen, a pizza showing up at the door beats another round of driving.
