Where can I get the best oysters and raw bar in Perdido Key and Orange Beach?
For oysters, the local trio is the Original Oyster House, Perdido Key Oyster Bar, and Salty Pearl Raw Bar. Order them raw if the bar shucks to order, or chargrilled (Gulf-style, with garlic butter and parmesan) if you like them hot. Chargrilled is the regional signature and the safe bet if you're oyster-curious.
Where to go
Original Oyster House is the long-running, reliable name. Perdido Key Oyster Bar and Salty Pearl Raw Bar are the more local, dig-in-at-the-bar picks.
Raw vs. chargrilled
Raw Gulf oysters are briny and cheap by the dozen when they're local. Chargrilled — flooded with garlic butter, cheese, and hit on an open flame — is the Gulf Coast move and a great gateway if raw isn't your thing. Most raw bars here do both.
A note on season and safety
Oyster quality swings with the season and water conditions. If a raw bar is busy and shucking to order, you're fine; if oysters are sitting pre-shucked on ice, get them chargrilled. When in doubt, ask where they're from that week.
More questions
Are the oysters local?
Often Gulf and sometimes local, but sourcing shifts with harvest closures. A good raw bar will tell you exactly where the day's oysters came from — ask.
