Orange Beach vs Gulf Shores: which is better?

Orange Beach is the more upscale, boating-and-charter-focused side — big waterfront restaurants, The Wharf, deep-sea fishing and calmer high-end condos. Gulf Shores is bigger, busier and more family-attraction-driven with a lively public beach, zoo and waterparks. They border each other (about 15 minutes apart), so the "which" matters less than which end you sleep on.

Orange Beach

Orange Beach leans polished and water-oriented: The Wharf, a serious charter harbor, and marquee dining at Cobalt, The Gulf and Fisherman's Corner. Good base if boating or a quieter upscale vibe is the point.

Gulf Shores

Gulf Shores is the classic family beach town — more attractions (Waterville USA, the zoo), the flagship LuLu's, and a busier, more walkable public-beach core. More energy, more crowds.
