Al’s is the package store you actually use in Orange Beach — sitting beside the Walmart on Perdido Beach Blvd. The package store at the state line gets the postcards; Al’s gets the errand. It’s part of a small coastal-Alabama chain with locations across Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, and Foley, so they’ve had practice.
What you’ll find
A proper spread across all three words on the sign. Spirits run the full range — bourbon, whiskey, tequila, rum, vodka, gin — alongside red, white, and rosé (they’ll special-order a bottle you can’t find) and craft beer from local and national breweries. The tobacco side is more serious than you’d expect from a beach-strip store: cigars from names like Padron, Rocky Patel, Macanudo, and Arganese, plus humidors, not just a dusty box of afterthoughts by the register. They also stock vaping supplies, for what that’s worth.
When to go
The long hours are the practical selling point — check their site for the current schedule, but it covers both the “stock the condo on arrival day” run and the “we underestimated the week” run. Location helps too: you’re already at that Walmart for groceries, so the beer-and-bourbon stop adds about ninety seconds to the trip. They also run wine and beer tastings through the year, if you time it right.
Good to know
Alabama beach towns are not Louisiana — there’s no drive-through daiquiri culture, and the grocery stores here don’t sell liquor, so a package store is the only way to put bourbon in the condo. Al’s is the one that’s on the way. If you’re staying on the Florida side of the line, it’s still a short drive down the Boulevard, and the eat and drink guide has the bars for nights when you’d rather let someone else pour.
