Amelia’s Deli & Catering is a family-owned deli on East 2nd Street in Gulf Shores, a short jog off Gulf Shores Parkway, and it has been feeding this end of Baldwin County for more than twenty years. It is not on the beach and it is not trying to be — this is the kind of lunch counter locals use on a workday, with sandwiches and deli fare, plus a catering operation for the office spread, the rehearsal dinner, or the condo full of relatives who all want lunch at the same time. From Orange Beach it is a straight run west on the beach road and then up into town; from Perdido Key, add the state line and Canal Road and figure on a real drive.
When to go
Weekday lunch is the whole game here. It is open for the midday crowd on weekdays, and that is the slot to plan around — this is not a late-night or weekend-brunch spot. If you are staying in Gulf Shores and want a sandwich that isn’t a beach-road chain, this is the sort of place worth the detour on a Tuesday. In summer, expect the local working crowd plus vacationers who found it, so a little before or after the noon rush is the smoother move.
Good to know
Catering is a real part of the business, not an afterthought, and a deli tray is the correct answer to feeding twelve people at a rental house without anybody standing at the stove.
