Uncle Wally’s is the small-boat answer to the hundred-passenger party barges: a licensed captain, a 25-foot 2022 Yamaha FSH, and a maximum of six passengers — all of whom you presumably like, because you brought them. Trips run out of Perdido Key and go wherever you decide, which is the entire point of a private charter. The captain is Uncle Wally himself, so the name isn’t a marketing invention.
The trips
Dolphin watching, sunset runs, sightseeing, sandbar days, and bar-and-restaurant hopping by water are all on the menu — the last one being a Perdido Key specialty, since a good share of the bars along Ole River and the state line have docks. Then there’s the local move nobody else does quite this way: Blue Angels practice cruises, watching the Navy’s flight demonstration team rehearse over Pensacola from the water instead of from a crowded beach. Every charter is customized, so a morning that starts as a dolphin run can end at a sandbar if the crew votes that way.
What you get
Charters are all-inclusive — captain, fuel, and taxes are in the number, with no surprises at the dock. Adult life jackets, a large cooler full of ice, and bottled water are on board. You bring snacks, drinks (BYOB, no glass), towels, and sunscreen. Life jackets are required for kids and pets, so if your dog is coming, bring one that fits.
Good to know
Up to two pets ride free, which makes this one of the very few ways to get your dog on a dolphin tour around here. Six passengers means six total — infants count — so do your headcount before you book. Same-day trips are sometimes possible by phone even when the online calendar shows nothing, and their site has current rates. If you’re staying along Perdido Key Drive, you’re already close.
