Photo Submission Terms
Last updated 2026-05-22. Plain English. Real terms.
By submitting a photograph to perdidokeyog.com (the "Site") — whether through the submission form, by tagging #PerdidoKeyOG on Instagram, or by direct email — you ("Contributor") agree to these Terms.
1. What you're granting us
You grant perdidokeyog.com a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, perpetual license to:
- Display the photo on the Site, in our newsletter, and on our social channels
- Resize, crop, color-correct, add caption text, and add credit overlay as needed for editorial use
- Use the photo in promotional material for the Site (e.g., a press story about the Site can include the photo)
- Sublicense to the Site's editorial partners under the same terms (we don't have any today, but we may in the future)
You keep the copyright. We never claim to own your photo. You can use it however you want, sell it, license it elsewhere — none of that conflicts with our license.
2. What you're warranting
By submitting, you confirm:
- You took the photo, or you have explicit permission from the person who did
- Any identifiable people in the photo have given permission for their image to be displayed publicly
- If anyone in the photo is a minor, you have a parent or guardian's permission
- If the photo was taken on private property, you had permission to be there and to photograph there
- The photo is not AI-generated and does not contain AI-generated alterations of real places
3. How we credit you
Unless you tell us otherwise, we credit you by name (and optional handle / website) on the image caption and in the photo credits page. We honor exactly how you want to be credited.
If you'd rather not be credited (anonymous submission), say so when you submit. We respect anonymous credits.
4. Revoking the license later
You can ask us to stop using your photo at any time by emailing the Site contact address. We'll honor the request within 30 days for active uses (homepage, area pages, current Drift posts). Photos already embedded in long-form posts may take longer if they're cached at the CDN level; we make a good-faith effort to remove all copies within 30 days.
We do not "take back" the license retroactively for prior promotional use that's already been published (a newsletter from six months ago that already went out, for example).
5. We may decline to publish
Submitting doesn't guarantee publication. We curate. We may decline submissions that don't fit the editorial voice, that we can't verify, or that conflict with our editorial standards. Declining is not a judgment on the photo's quality — it's about fit.
6. AI imagery is prohibited
We do not accept AI-generated images of real places. Submitting one is a breach of these Terms and we may remove and not republish anything you submit thereafter. Decorative abstract AI imagery (textures, patterns) is fine — but if you're submitting under our photo program, the assumption is real photography of real places.
7. Hashtag-only submissions
Tagging #PerdidoKeyOG on Instagram grants us the same license as a direct submission. However, our practice is to DM you before reposting on the Site itself (not just on our own Instagram) to confirm. If we don't hear back, we don't repost on the Site.
8. Contest submissions
If you submit to a contest we run (e.g., the OG Gulf Coast Photo Contest), these Terms apply plus any contest-specific rules linked from the contest post. Winners and finalists' photos are licensed under these Terms perpetually. Non-winning submissions are still licensed under these Terms unless you tell us otherwise within 30 days of the contest closing.
9. Disputes
We try really hard to do right by photographers. If something goes wrong, email us first. If we still can't sort it out, the governing law is Florida (where the Site is based), but we'd much rather just fix the problem than litigate it.
10. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms over time. Material changes will be flagged on the Site and in the next newsletter. Continuing to submit photos after a change means you accept the updated Terms. For previously submitted photos, the Terms in effect at the time of submission keep applying.
Modeled after Go To Bermuda's UGC Terms and standard editorial license practice. Plain English on purpose; we'd rather you understand what you're agreeing to than impress you with the lawyer copy.
