Ron Jon Surf Shop sits on Perdido Beach Boulevard in Orange Beach, and it holds a distinction worth stating plainly: it’s the only true surf-brand store on this whole corridor. Plenty of shops around here sell shirts with waves printed on them. This is the one that actually sells the boards.

Yes, the Gulf is not exactly a surf mecca, and yes, you’ll still find the logo tees that make up half of Ron Jon’s cultural footprint. But when a swell does show up off the Pass, this is where the gear comes from. Between swells it’s a solid stop for the beachwear side of things — board shorts, rash guards, sandals, the kind of sunglasses you won’t be heartbroken to lose in the surf.

It’s a useful middle option on the strip: more legit than the souvenir superstores, more accessible than ordering equipment sight unseen. If you’re shopping for a teenager who’d rather die than wear an airbrushed shirt, this is the store that solves that problem. It’s also the place to send the one person in your group who packed a skimboard and wants to talk about it.

This is a shopping stop, not a surf school — nobody here is going to promise you waves, and on most summer days the Gulf is a lake. Check beach conditions before you get your hopes up; on the rare day the flags call for rough surf, the boards on the wall suddenly make a lot more sense. It’s on the main drag along the Boulevard, easy to fold into a run past the other shops on the strip.
